Tyler Lausten is a true waterman. He got his start riding waveski in Maui after finding a ski at a yard sale. It came naturally to him after his time river kayaking as a kid on the mainland. He learned composites construction through outrigger canoe building for Kai Waa in Maui and then talked Mark Angulo into building his first custom waveski. After making his own skis in Maui for about 3 1/2 yrs Tyler moved his operations to Watsonville, CA. For the past 6 months he has been dialing in his new shop, designing some new surf boards and shredding the Cali winter waves. Tyler recently changed the business name from TL Waveski to TL Surf to better reflect the company’s expanded product offerings. Be sure to keep an eye on the waves for his forthcoming kneeboard and SUP surf designs. If it can shred a wave Tyler can design and build it. I’m looking forward to trying some of his wave riding craft soon, especially since I recently opened my eyes to the potential of the waveski.
If your interested in a new TL waveski Tyler can build you a fully custom ski in about 3 weeks for about $1,450, depending on options. TL Surf can now build you a full custom epoxy surf board for a great deal as well. Besides the surf weapons Tyler also offers a full line of waveski accesories and TL tees. TL Surf is the US distributor for Solamanzi waveski parts.
