Squaw Valley is a resort where many a skiing legend has been made. The availability of in bounds extreme terrain is plentiful and the many bluebird days combined with the stunning Lake Tahoe backdrop have been featured in many a ski flick. The great part about Squaw is the ability to huck yourself until your heart’s content all in view of family and friends who are enjoying the only ski up Starbucks in the world or carving some mellow turns that are available just below much of the extreme terrain, and located high on the mountain. After wearing yourself out on the hill you can then all ski down together and enjoy the many amenities that the Village at Squaw has to offer, and they are plentiful!
Tips:
-The Funitel, or “Funi” as the locals call it, is an awesome way to get to the top of Squaw. It is the only aerial lift like it in the US. It features two cables to suspend the cars below that can hold 18 people and withstand extremely high winds.
-Squaw offer the most extensive night skiing in Tahoe, just in case you somehow have some juice left in those legs for a few more turns.
-Where else can you ride an Aerial tram to 8,200′ and enjoy ice skating with an amazing mountain and lake view?
-Be sure to try the fried goat cheese bacon balls at Bistro 22 in Squaw Village. So good!

Sh*t People Say About Squaw Valley
The conditions weren’t the best during my trip to Squaw, but I still enjoyed the amazing terrain, got to hang with great people and got some good shots. Squaw is known for amazing snow mixed with its extreme terrain and I hope to come back one day and huck the gnar into the pillowy softness that is Tahoe powder. I’ll be chasing snow the rest of the winter and hope to see you on the slopes. -Bryon Dorr
