It’s simple, life before clothing storage sacks was a disaster. Just because I only have a “small” bag to keep my “small” amount of clothes (queue Bryon’s eye roll) in, doesn’t mean that two seconds after I have expertly rolled and situated every last clothing article, the entire bag has dissolved into chaos. You want a pair of socks? Good luck. How about that neck tie that you were going to use as a hipster belt, no? Maybe you thought it was a good idea to, just for a second, to put your leatherman into your bag, aaand it’s gone.
So now what? There are starting to be quite a few options on the market to fill this need, and it’s easy to get lost. Here’s why I like the Zippsack:
- They are super lightweight and colorful!
- They pack impossibly small. If you’re only looking to use these on occasion, storage is a no brainer, roll ‘em up or pack ‘em flat.
- The zipper is the full length of the bag and centered. This is great for rummaging around the bag to find what you need without everything spilling out.
- The ‘bath tub’ construction of these beauties is great. This keeps the seams away from the corners to help with the longevity, and to keep the outside elements from creeping in when tossed on the ground. It also offers a more organically rectangular shape. This helps you optimize the space you have when shoving one of these wherever you need it to be.
- There are two wide looped handles on both ends of the bag. This makes it easy to retrieve your Zippsack from your bag/shelf, and lets you clip it to/hang it from whatever you want.
Now that your sold on the product, what all are you going to use these for?
- Shelves: My first experience with this type of bag was when we lived in the Sportsmobile. We had deep cabinet-style storage. They were super helpful for being able to make clothing stacks, two deep, and still being able to access the goods in the back, and not just let them disappear into Never Never Land.
- Drawers: Is your toiletry drawer a black hole? Want to actually find your toilet paper when you need it and keep it clean? Yep, you can organize that.
- Backpacking: These are great options for keeping you organized and connected to what you need, so you can spend more time exploring, and less time digging.
- Smelly Gear: For the sake of everything holy, please get those running shoes away from me. And while you’re at it, get another one for your active clothes to keep your clean stuff fresh when you have to share space.
- Food: Going on a kayaking trip and want to have your ramen all in one place? Here ya go. This will keep you from wearing though the packages, and if something does explode, it keeps everything contained.
