First bite into one of these bad boys and your brain will immediately tell you to stop, that there is no way that these trail mix bars are anything but bad for you. Lucky for you, your brain has been fooled.
To start things off in the AWESOME category for Clif Mojo Trail Mix Bars, they are 70% organic. While that may not be the whole 100%, the importantly delicious ingredients, such as dark chocolate, coconut and almonds are. When taking a look at the ingredients list on all of these bars, you will be happy to hear that you can easily pronounce everything on there. However, there was one ingredient that I was curious about, the organic inulin. What I learned is that inulin is totally badass. It is a dietary fiber usually extracted from chicory, that has many different uses and applications, from the processed food world to the medical one. As far as this bar is concerned, you’re looking at some happy gut bacteria growth, and maybe a little gas:) Don’t fret, if you’re used to eating garlic, onions or bananas (plants with lots of inulin), your body should be pretty well adjusted and ready to enjoy the intestinal gifts! For some further reading on how cool inulin actually is, checkout Wikipedia.
Now that your brain has ingested it’s chill pill and come to terms that this is a decently healthy snack, albeit a little salty, let’s get back to that first bite. Take the Dark Chocolate Cherry Almond bar, not only does it boast a delectably smooth chocolate base, but Clif was gracious enough to top it off with healthy chunks of more dark chocolate. When your teeth dip into this tantalizing bar, you are met with this wonderful chorus of a soft gooey coating, corralling the little bits of wonderful texture and melting chocolate, away to naughty-naughty Candy Bar Land. Rest assured that you will be leaving all of your tears of shame at home with Snickers and Milky-Way, for you have found a new guilty pleasure.
So obviously the Dark Chocolate Cherry Almond bar is my favorite (which you can buy on Amazon HERE), but the other Mojo bars don’t disappoint! You can even find more invigorating chocolate stimulation with the Dark Chocolate Almond Sea Salt bar. If I am not looking for chocolate (aka, I’ve run out), my next choice is the Wild Blueberry Almond bar. The wild organic blueberries are just so perfectly sweet that, combined with the salty almonds and puffed rice, you have a perfect medley of complimentary flavors to satisfy your salty-sweet craving.
You’re sure to find the perfect match of awesome fuel for your day and satisfy those discerning taste buds of yours with Clif Mojo Bars.
Pros:
Chewy, flavor packed, awesome flavor options, filling, low glycemic, gluten free, 70% organic
Cons:
Melt quickly
Bryon‘s thoughts on the Clif Mojo Bars:
I’ve been fueling my adventures with Clif bars for some time and recently mostly switched to Kind Bars. The new Clif Mojo Bars are very similar and awesome in every way. I love the salty sweet mix and have used them to get me through some long cross country drives and long days building the EEXP adventuremobile lately. While you can’t go wrong with the Dark Chocolate Almond Sea Salt I also surprisingly really liked the Cranberry Almond, as I’m usually not a big fan of Cranberries. All three main varieties of Clif Mojo Bars (Sweet & Salty, Fruit & Nut and Dark Chocolate) have their distinct flavors and are very different than the alternatives on the market. I know many of my future adventures will be Clif Mojo fueled.
