TravelSupermarket.com is putting on the “Capture The Colour” photo contest for a chance at 2,000 English Pounds. It’s a great contest for bloggers to show off their best shots with the following colors as the theme: Blue, Green, Yellow, White & Red. I want to thank both Matt Gibson and Ava Apollo for the nominations of me for this contest. Be sure to check out their photos as well. Please check out my shots, comment below & share through your favorite social media sites:)
Blue:
As the sun set on the last day before the 2012 Teva Mtn Games the free ride mtn bikers snuck in their final practice before the big event. These guys were going huge against a surreal blue Vail, CO sky. Check out my full coverage of this year’s event HERE.
Green:
Matt Hoff stares at the fast approaching “green monster,” better known as a huge wave at Steamer’s Lane in Santa Cruz, CA during the 2012 Santa Cruz Paddle Fest. That wave would have crushed anyone else, but Matt managed to pull a last millisecond roll over technique at the lip and quickly rolled up on the back-side of the wave. Check out my full coverage of the event HERE and my competitors view article HERE.
Yellow:
Jesse Becker flying off Big Kahuna falls on Canyon Creek, WA. I love how the ribbon of water flowing off the boof flake leads the eye to Jesse’s bright yellow kayak. Canyon Creek is a local favorite for Portland, OR area kayakers and the NW Creek Comp. draws all the local talent. Check out my full coverage of this year’s event HERE.
White:
This photo was taken in ’05 on the Fluid Kayaks Team trip to the Zambezi river. While the raging torrent that is the Zambezi below Victoria Falls is truly intimidating, it is also an amazing playground for experienced kayakers. Graeme Anderson takes flight on the 12b wave. The whitewater truly pops under the harsh African sun and greenish water backdrop.
On a side note: Graeme recently passed away after contracting rabies from the saliva of a stray dog that he took in. My thoughts are with all his family and friends. RIP my friend!
Red:
Believe it or not this was taken on an iPhone through a solar telescope! It shows the full solar eclipse that happened May 20, 2012 as seen from the Flagstaff, AZ area during this year’s Overland Expo. It happened during the closing BBQ of the event and was a great focus for everyone to enjoy while winding down a big 3 days of learning and getting to know amazing adventurers. Check out my coverage of Overland Expo HERE.
Part of the competition is to nominate 5 other bloggers for the competition:
